How it works
Estimate overtime earnings
Separate regular hours from overtime hours, then apply the appropriate multiplier to the base hourly rate.
Time-and-a-half
A 1.5x multiplier turns a $20 base rate into a $30 estimated overtime rate. Multiply that overtime rate by the number of overtime hours. How to calculate overtime pay works through a full week, including which hours count and which rate the multiplier applies to.
Double time
A 2x multiplier doubles the base hourly rate. Double-time eligibility depends on the rules and policies that apply to the work.
Gross pay estimate
The total combines regular pay and overtime pay. It is an estimate before taxes, deductions, bonuses, or other compensation. Higher withholding on a bigger check is not a separate overtime tax rate — it reflects how payroll taxes apply to the whole paycheck.
Confirm eligibility
This calculator performs arithmetic only. It does not determine whether a worker or set of hours legally qualifies for overtime.
