How it works
Calculate a weekly time card
Enter each shift in order. The calculator subtracts break minutes from the elapsed shift, totals the week, and separates hours above your chosen overtime threshold. If your employer rounds clock entries to the nearest quarter hour, timesheet rounding and the 7-minute rule explains how that works.
Shifts that cross midnight
When the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator treats the shift as ending the following day. A 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM shift is therefore eight hours before breaks.
Unpaid break time
Enter only break minutes that should be removed from paid time. A 30-minute unpaid lunch on an eight-hour elapsed shift produces 7.5 paid hours. How to calculate work hours with an unpaid lunch break covers which breaks should be unpaid in the first place.
Regular and overtime hours
The default threshold is 40 hours, but you can change it. Eligibility and overtime rules vary, so confirm the threshold and rate that apply to you.
Estimated gross pay
Regular hours use the entered hourly rate. Hours above the threshold use a 1.5x estimate. Taxes, deductions, bonuses, and special pay rules are not included.
